Deep Ellum Arts Festival
One of my favorite things to do around Dallas is attending art festivals because I have so much appreciation for artist's craft. This was the first time I ever been to the Deep Ellum Arts Festival, a FREE 3-day arts festival that takes over the street of Deep Ellum bringing in more than 200 decorative and visual artists selling and commissioning original works, 100s of original bands and performance artists showcasing the newest sights and sounds from five stages. Many works of sculptors, muralists, jewelers, painters, leather and wood crafters, and other specialized fine artists were scattered throughout the streets of Deep Ellum. I fell in love with the atmosphere and couldn't had ask for better temperature to walk the streets – sunny 75 degrees. There was great assortment of artists and activities. Good food and drinks from street vendors, in addition to the regular Deep Ellum hotspots. There was enough different music & performance stages and areas that you can definitely find something to suit your tastes. Really, there is something for everyone from your dog to your kids (kids were able to draw on the street - chalk provided)! It was just a perfect day to feel creative and get inspired. My favorites had to be of course anyone that had comics anything. From old school to Star Wars, those prints were the ones that drew my attention. The only downfall was parking, but after driving around for 20-30 minutes we lucked up on free parking.
I am glad I got to experience the 22nd Annual Deep Ellum Art Festival this past weekend. I will definitely be a regular every year and can't wait to see what new artwork it brings. Hope you enjoy some of my snaps from the event. Happy Monday! -xo Mel
