Midweek Motivation
Work, Work, Work, Work, Work. Something Something. Der Der Der Der Der. Work, Work, Work, Work, Work. I can’t seem to get that song out my head. It’s so catchy. If you have a schedule like mines sometimes everything can get chaotic at the same time. Being a full-time career woman, a mother who’s preteen is about to enter into middle school, run a lifestyle blog on the side, and keep up with running/exercise all while trying to keep my sanity – it can be overwhelming sometimes. My life isn’t perfect, I have daily struggles just like everyone else, but I want to share three tips that I try to do on a weekly basis so I don’t crazy.
1. Don’t check your emails when you first wake up.
My close friend had to preach this to me. It’s so addicting to get on your phone early in the a.m. and start going through all your emails. I am still struggling with this but it’s true. When it things like pressing deadlines, or if a client wants a redo everything you worked on is the first thing you see as soon as your eyes open, it can make your day turn negative. I try to just relax at 6 a.m. and get up to focus on my daughter, getting her ready for school and drink a glass of warm water with lemon which they say has so many benefits for your body, you can read more about the benefits here. I usually try to start worrying about work after I drop my daughter off in the morning while heading into work. It
2. Workout.
Now that I am training for a half marathon the end of April, I been getting in a routine to run before or after work, and I can say it has help lessen some of the stress that I carry. It’s usually a struggle for me because all you want to do after a long day of work is just crash on the couch and watch senseless TV. But think of just going out for 30 minutes and getting some fresh air, even if it is to walk the dog. You can feel re-energized. It’s always a hard start, but the finish feeling makes you feel nice and accomplished.
3. Dedicate at least an hour a week to treating yourself.
Now this can be anything that makes you happy. Have you been wanting to get a massage, or buy a cute outfit, facial, go out to dinner and have a glass or wine or two, than do it. YOU DESERVE to treat yourself. You work hard throughout the week to at least buy that shirt you've been eyeballing or eat that damn cupcake despite the calories. You will thank me later!
What tips do you do that keeps you sane? Share your ideas with me. I would love to hear them.
