Movie Review: American Sniper
American Sniper, starring Bradley Cooper, directed by Clint Eastwood, just released this past weekend at the box office and is already the #1 film, ranking in about 100 million dollars. I must say this is probably one of the best films I seen all year.
Based on a true story of Chris Kyle, a United States Navy Seal, who was proclaimed as the most lethal sniper in US history with 160 confirmed kills out of 255 probable kills. Kyle served 4 tours in the Iraq War. The longest shot range he had was 2,100 yards. (Thats literally the size of 21 football fields or over a mile long). Insane! He was that good that even the terrorist had a bounty on his head for $21,000 bounty which was later increased to $80,000.
This movie gives you a sense of what it feels like to be in combat of war. What things they seen, felt and experienced. You couldn't help but feel the pain and understand how soldiers feel risking their lives for America. I know this was only a small snippet of what soldiers experience, but this small snippet has opened a lot of eyes across America and I am glad this movie came out for that reason. Everyone was in tears in the theatre and clapped at the end of the movie because honestly what he did for America is truly heirotic & noble.
I always love watching movies that depicts the lives of the men and woman that serve our country. Growing up with my grandfather, we have nothing but respect for anyone who will risk their lives to help protect this nation. Chris Kyle, thank you for risking yours. What you did is truly memorable and I am glad this movie came out to help share your story.
Much Respect. -xo Mel
