29 Rooms: A Space of Culture & Creativity

A teenage bedroom full for technicolor fur that transports you back to the '90s teenage years?! Yes, please! Refinery29 is here in Dallas with their one-of-a-kind immersive festival of style, culture and creativity, 29Rooms: Expand Your Reality. This multi-sensory maze is here until August 18th at Gilley's on South Lamar with 29 interactive rooms, each with their photogenic décor for visitors to take in.

The Expand Your Reality experience is a multi-sensory space in collaboration with global artists, creators, visionaries, meaningful causes, and brands. Each room put visitors at the center of the event with hands-on activities and several phone-free experiences, sparking engagement and igniting self-expression, storytelling and dialogue.

Specific to the Dallas event is a sculpture by Dallas artist Dan Lam, which forms the centerpiece of an area that the festival's creators call the Art Park. Also in the mix is a large-scale mural by Denton-based artist Alicia Eggert called The Traveling Billboard. I loved the transitions of the words from “Forever Become” to “Never Be” on her art piece. If you haven't heard of 29Rooms (in which case ... look it up!), It’s all over Instagram.

29Rooms: Expand Your Reality, is at Gilley's Southside Ballroom until Aug. 18th, 1135 S. Lamar St., $30 tickets available online.
