2018 San Diego Comic-Con Recap
It was a heck of a year at San Diego Comic-Con 2018. It may have felt smaller than usual, due to the absence of usual heavy hitters like Marvel, Star Wars, Disney, Pixar, Game of Thrones, and Westworld, but there was still plenty to get excited about at SDCC this year. Almost 150,000 people flocked to San Diego to be the first to see exclusive content from their favorite TV shows and see new trailers for the most anticipated upcoming movies. This has been my daughter's and my yearly vacation spot and every year we discover more and more what all San Diego Comic-Con has to offer.
Whether you were hunting for rare Funko Pops, attending the Funko Friday event (recap coming soon), trying to find the best cosplayers at Comic-Con, or wanted to watch the latest exclusive footage from upcoming shows and movies like Titans, Doctor Who, Iron Fist 2, The Walking Dead, Netflix's Disenchantment, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Shazam, Wonder Woman 1984, Aquaman, or any other of the massive future hits that showed up this year to engage directly with fans, there is always something for everyone at Comic-Con. You could even visit the Taco Bell experience from Demolition Man, which the line was wrapped around the building to get into. We definitely got to experience more of the outside world (Gaslamp Quarter area), cosplayers just walking up and down the strip, restaurants all themed out comics even on their menus for the weekend, the DC Universe Experience, and all that Petco Park had to offer.
As always, this year’s Comic-Con was quite an adventure. There wasn’t any jaw-dropping news, but with all the new trailers, footage, panels, cosplayers, exclusive merchandise, and, of course, comics, there was plenty to see. Amidst all the madness, it was a return to fandom for me and my daughter. Looking forward to 2019 Comic-Con adventures.
