May the 4th Be With You
Happy Star Wars Day everyone.
For those who don’t know, May the 4th (Force) is the day when fans of the epic series get to celebrate its awesomeness because, well, just say the date out loud. Fans, like myself have been celebrating May the 4th with adorable memes and costumes, but the day definitely has had a twinge of sadness around it. It is the first Star Wars Day without everyone’s beloved Princess Leia.
I am a huge fan of Star Wars and when I found this shirt of the dear Princess Leia recently at Zara. I just couldn't resist, I had to pay tribute to the late actress who portrayed Princess Leia. I paired the t-shirt with black jeans and finished it off with this recent DV Ruth Slip On Sneakers in white from Target, for a simple black and white effortless style.
Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) character was a striking icon for a proudly feminist demonstration. As a young princess in the early movies, Leia was a resilient survivor determined to fight for her cause. As a middle-aged woman in 2015’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” she had endured political strife and personal tragedy but remained the formidable leader of the righteous rebellion. Without Leia, the rebellion would have been quashed a long time ago.
So for that, Thank you Carrie Fisher for being that great representation for all the strong woman in the world and for being such an icon to us Star Wars fans. May the force be with you all today. -xo Mel
