Movie Review: Deadpool 2: 10 Reasons Why It’s a Must See

No spoilers here, so go ahead and read on.

I was able to catch an advance screening of Deadpool 2 last week and finally, the embargo has been lifted! So on that note, here are my Top 10 Reasons to go ahead, grab some friends, loosen up, and laugh at Deadpool's craziness this weekend.

1. This movie will make you laugh, even when you don't want to. Deadpool 2 has as much heart as the original, and the humor is more consistent. I couldn’t stop laughing. I mean it is pretty darn funny.

2. Ryan Reynolds. I’m happy to say that Reynolds serves up more of what made his Wade Wilson so instantly iconic on the big screen in Deadpool 2, only this time he’s got more of everything: more characters, more charm, more plots, more jokes, and more blood scenes.

3.  XForce (Deadpool’s mini team). Their first mission is two of the funniest scenes in the film and please keep an eye out for a don’t-blink showstopper of a cameo.

4. The fight scenes. Deadpool 2 ups the ante just like the action from the John Wick movie. As mention before you are in for a treat of fight scenes. So if you are grossed out by blood fights, this might not be the film for you.

5. Josh Brolin delivers. It may indeed be unsettling to hear Thanos’ voice coming out of Cable’s mouth so soon, but Brolin definitely does an excellent job being the Terminator-like Cable.

6. Domino. Whose superpower is “luck”. You know me and my feminism. She kicks ass in this film. She may only appear for a short time in this film, but her fight scenes were definitely some of my favorite moments in this movie.

7. The clever lines. Ok, I know I can’t give spoilers away, but seriously the writing of this film was able to put more meat on the bones in the second film, … some of the lines that come out of Deadpool's mouth catches you off guard. Be sure to listen up.

8. The beginning credits. Is pure genius. Be sure to read the credits. Thank me later.

9. X-Men. It’s always good to see some of our favorite characters from X-Men, including my favorite Logan "Wolverine." Be sure to pay close attention when Deadpool is at Xavier Institute.

10. Awareness. Deadpool 2 is exactly the movie you want. It’s loaded up on reference humor, this time expanding to superhero movies including the DC Universe and Marvel. It definitely has references to the popular trends in fan culture.

BONUS: One last thing: please stay through the end credits; Deadpool has a few things to tidy up before you leave. I’m a nerd for superhero movies and there are lots of jokes about superhero movies in this film. I give it a 4 out of 5 stars.

Let me know what you think if you see the movie! - xo Mel

Ruffle Sleeveless Blouse

This past weekend the weather in Dallas was so beautiful. From Cinco De Mayo celebrations to hosting a bridal shower, I was excited to start breaking out some new spring tops, like this ruffle sleeveless blouse. I snagged this adorable ruffle sleeveless blouse for less than $20 a few weeks back at Forever 21 and have been wanting to pair it with this navy blue Cropped Wide-Leg Chino Pants. If you can't tell yet, I've been loving this crop wide-leg pants trend.

I cant enough of this blouse. I love the soft shade, the ruffles, and the fit. It’s a crop top, but just enough coverage for those like me who don't want so much stomach showing. I plan to pair this ruffle sleeveless blouse with everything from white jeans, to dark jeans to even shorts. Personally, I love a blouse (like this ruffle sleeveless blouse) that you can wear to a casual dinner, a fun daytime event with some wedges or flats, or dress it up for a night out. Versatility is always something I look for when purchasing something. This outfit will defintiely be on repeat from spring to summer.

Movie Review: Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War Cheat Sheet
"We're in the endgame now." —Dr. Strange

The wait for Avengers: Infinity War is over ... I think everyone finally had an opportunity to see the movie. If you haven’t, no worries this is spoiler-free, so no need to swear me out your life. Avengers: Infinity War snagged a $258.2 million debut this past Fri-Sun, bigger than any movie in history. This is Marvel's 19th movie, their biggest so far, and is for sure worth the wait. Here is my little cheat sheet of recommendations to know before seeing this movie and might help explain it even better.

Unless you've been living under a rock, you'll be aware this is the one that pits most of the primary Avengers against the world’s most impressive MCU villain Thanos (Josh Brolin).  You may not like Thanos, but you will love Josh Brolin’s Thanos, he played the character so well that you would almost feel bad for him. The likes of Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and way many more, have never faced a threat this big, as Thanos' pursuit of the Infinity Stones plunges the entire universe into danger.

So, what are the 5 Marvel movies you really need to see prior to this one? Here’s my take, in order of importance:

  1. Thor Ragnarok
  2. Black Panther
  3. Guardians of the Galaxy
  4. Avengers: Age of Ultron
  5. Doctor Strange

Don’t get me wrong, seeing all the Marvel movies helps even more, but if you see these 5, then I think you’ll have a pretty good grasp of what’s going on.

The Russo Brothers did a magnificent job with this one they gave it a darker more sincere feel, it left us emotionally involved from beginning to end, even frustrated and exhausted at times (insert tears). There’s not much I can say without spoiling any surprises, but what I can say is that we see all our favorite characters reunited in one movie which is incredible. #WakandaForever! Avenger's: Infinity War takes you to new planets and locations we’ve only heard of but have never seen. It keeps the movie moving and the viewers interested. Within the first 5 minutes of the film, you understand that this is a different kind of movie. It’s fast-moving and it doesn’t feel like it’s 2 and a half hours long.

Avenger's: Infinity War is a must see. I’ve seen it once … or maybe twice (judge me not) and I can’t wait to see it all over again. I give it 5 out of 5 stars! Did you see it? Let me know your thoughts! -xo Mel
